A little blog about the life of a somewhat lost dreamer....looking for my grace in this crazy world.

05 March 2012

Should you be so inclined...

On Friday, March 3rd, an F-3 tornado hit areas in Menifee and Morgan Counties. Keep in mind, they had been hit by an F-2 on Wednesday. This is where I grew up, and where my family is. At present, the death toll has risen to 7, injuries in the hundreds, and the devastation, well, as you can see... beyond words.

To add more difficulty, today they are waking to about 5 inches of heavy, wet snow.

I know that the blogging community is an amazing and caring one, I thank all of my friends who have been in touch and all of you who have sent up prayers for my friends and family, and everyone else in the area.

For any who may be so inclined, should you wish to donate to help...

For all your thoughts, prayers, and donations... from the bottom of my heart... Thank you.

Our area took donations to a guy from our area who is going to Henryville to help with clean up and plans an extended stay. He is a local contractor who lost his job and was about to lose his home last year. Donations kept him above water and is now working again. Just mentioning proof that people DO care. His visit was approved by the Salvation Army.
Prayers continue for those in the devastated area.
xx, Carol

I've been worried about you and yours, as well as my hubby's sister and family who are in the Cincinnati area. One of the girls goes to school in Kentucky.

Your heart must be breaking for your hometown. I'm so sorry.

Thank goodness for the internet, so we can get money to The Salvation Army immediately even from Mexico. And so we can know that you're okay. Shaken; but okay.

Prayers continue ...

Oh June, this is just awful. I'm so glad your family was spared. I can't imagine trying to clean up this mess, let alone rebuild. My heart goes out to everyone.

So glad your family are safe but what horrible devastation and loss. I can't imagine how one picks up the pieces after something like this. Puts stuff into perspective! Thinking of you and yours... K

My heart too goes to this community. I'm on the edge of Joplin, MO which was hit May 21, 2011 by an F5 black beast measuring 3 miles wide and 6 miles deep. It was on the ground for about 20 minutes; took about a third of the city including 1 of our major hospitals. Their were patients found in fields as far as 60 miles away. DEVASTATION seems like such a small word now.

Your town WILL BE blessed as ours was. People will come from all over the world to help heal the community. Kudos to the Red Cross, Salvation Army and the ASPCA!! Oh and ABC, Extreme Home Makeovers. Their last episode was building 7 homes in 7 days here.

If your readers can't donate money, consider volunteering for small (yet big) things like driving around delivering donated water and food. It will bless your heart and much as theirs.
