I started this piece with a traditional 6" x 9" manila envelope, then I deconstructed it by taking all of the seams apart and opening it up. First, a layer of gesso...
Then, I used orange and hot pink and did a bit of the credit card painting technique to spread the paint all over the gessoed envelope. The hot pink somehow got swallowed up by the orange, but I love how using a plastic card deposits the paint over the surface.
I rolled on some hot pink "dots" to make up for the loss in the original painting... you can do this by using bubble wrap. I just tape a layer (bubbles pointing out) to a brayer, then paint on the color you want to roll on, and roll... I did a bit of doodling, a bit of gluing on copies of old photos, and pages from books that were printed back in the 1960s...
And then, I did a bit of sewing. This is what really set it off for me...
A bit of glue...
And it's back together... good as new, and far prettier. Now, I'm going to fill it with pages from old books, decorative papers I have, whatever sort of thing I find that are interesting and creative... and I am mailing this piece of art to one of you wonderful followers who are kind enough to leave comments in the month of October....

Cool, Very Cool! You slay me when you talk about not being inspired to create because when you are you come up with something fab and unique and something that I never in a million years would have even known how to start.
I love this!! I never would have thought of it myself, at least not anytime soon....maybe never! Do we need to be an official follower or just checking in and commenting this month like say....I just did????
Thanks Carol... my creativity wains and flourishes, it's just that once it was a constant thing so it's always disheartening to me when it isn't constant... but even I am very pleased with what came, and just wait until share more tomorrow...
And, Joe... yes, you have to be a follower to be eligible for the monthly give away, it's a way for me to thank those who are always so very supportive.
What a wonderful idea for a giveaway. A gift in a gift of art. thanks for sharing
Now that is cool! A little bit of this and that makes for a fantastic piece of mail art. I especially like the orange and pink combo. Thanks for the inspiration!
It's wonderful, June!
Just don't try to mail it when the crabby guy is on duty. It just might make him smile ;-)
I love how you phrased that Scrap... I think it is a lovely way to look at what this is... art in art... what a great concept!
Thanks Char, I love that orange and pink myself, and am not sure why other than it seems to be part of who I am... you'll see an awful lot of it in almost everything I do.
LOL... and how funny Eileen, I was just thinking today how old crabby butt is gonna HATE accepting this as mail... but, hey, some days you just have to do what you. If it doesn't make him smile, it is most certainly going to make me!

It's fabulous June!!
OK, how fun is that? Now I'm going in search of a big envelope...
Okay, I may just take a big envelope apart and have a go at this myself. Someday. I love what you've done with this one. It even inspired me to finally succumb and sign up as a follower!
