A little blog about the life of a somewhat lost dreamer....looking for my grace in this crazy world.

If you all needed any more proof...

Of my sanity...(or lack thereof) meet Minnie and Molly...

Ever heard of a "Robo Hamster"? I hadn't. Not until my Little One called from PetSmart... "Mommmmm, they're SOoooOOOOoooo cute..."

Me..."I am NOT going to take care of yet another critter."

Her... "I know, I will take care of her, she is just sooooOOOOOOOoooooo cute."

Me... "I will NOT take care of it. I will not feed it. I will NOT water it. I will NOT change it."

Her... "I know, I will. They are sooOOOOooooo cute."

Me... "I am NOT going to take care of it."

Her... "I know, I will, they are just soooOOOOooooo cute."

You know what they really are? As an adult, they are only two inches big. They are social, IF they have been together since birth, otherwise, they can be mean, and they will attack.

Well, of course they can be, if you were only two inches as an adult, the world would be a big, scary place, you'd be mean too...just to put up a front.

On the up side, the dog OBVIOUSLY is not going to attack anything, so at least we'd have an attach hamster. A two inch big attack hamster...

They are also fast. Darned fast.

Again, you would be too if you were only two inches, you'd have to have some means of getting away from predators, especially if the mean act didn't work.

Minnie came to live with us first. She came to stay on Tuesday evening, after that "They're sooooOOOOoooo cute" phone call.

She really, REALLY missed her sister. They'd been together in the pet store, and I have to presume, since they got along well there, since birth.

She moped. She was sad. Did I mention that they are fast? So fast you really don't get the chance to snuggle and comfort and become their bestest new friend?

So, yesterday, the Little One and I went to PetSmart. Sure 'nough, the other little one was still there.

She was moping.

She looked sad.

Can we say "sucker"?

Molly was reunited with her sister last evening.

I am NOT going to take care of them though...

(Y'all feel free to start taking bets as to how long it will take...)

You know...it feels suspiciously like y'all are taking the Little One's side on this...

They are darned cute...and, did I mention fast? These little things are gonna have to get old and fat just so you can hold them!

I so need the luck with this one...most definitely...I can't wait until the first time they get out...

And I am sooooo NOT gonna take care of them?

(Have you started the bets yet about how long that is gonna take???)

cute!

i must say, though, i used to work at a pet store, and the smaller the hamster was, the more likely it was to bite me! eek!

the albino dwarf hamsters were meanest to me! :P

i'm glad they've been reunited, though! :)

Watch it. I have been bitten by a gerbil and they bring blood! My nephew had one and while petting it, it chomped onto my hand and wouldn't let go! They are cute, but they ARE mice in disguise. :)

O, look back in my blog and you can see how cute ours were. Well, after a short length of time I was feeding them and fighting to have their cages clean. (When ours came home we thought they were litter mates....WRONG....down came the second cage from the attic left over from their moms fur puffs). Well, making a long story short, I found someone that wanted THEIR kids to have them. The cages were empty for THREE, count em, 3 weeks before either boy noticed they were empty. I told em they got out. Its been a good joke on them.

This reminds me of the time we bought two same-sex gerbils because our son begged and begged.

We ended up with about 23 squirmy tiny pink blobs that looked sort of like larvae.

The story has a good ending: the pet store bought the babies and we found a home for one of the amazing hermaphroditic gerbils. We actually made money - lol.

John was just as happy with one gerbil as he'd been with two. It (he or she - who knows) actually became very attached to our son.
